Proxies are a very common site in schools in the US and it’s very easy to see why. Proxies, for those who don’t know, are free sites usually without ads that mostly have free games that are imported onto the site for students to play. The school, obviously, tries to block them. However, this is a complicated issue where the school is fully in the right, and some would argue, legally obligated to block them. But It’s a futile battle due to the fact that students/people who put up the proxies can just make another one.
So should the school stop trying to block proxies?
Well, the answer is not exactly clear. There are multiple opinions from different people about the topic that are both for and against them.
Many of the students at LJ are in favor of stopping trying to block proxies. On the contrary, most adults (teachers, parents etc.) want to keep blocking them, citing obvious bias on both sides.
The students that have been talked to claim that its something the school is draining unnecessary resources into, and the proxies are just something they use to have fun on during the school day.
Putting aside the legal obligations, teachers mostly view them as distraction to learning and a reason why a bunch of students are failing classes.
So which is the best way to go?
Well, we can’t tell you per se. Its purely up to your own judgement and opinion and we doubt this article will change anything, so the school will continue to block them. And that’s just fine by me.
