Fashion has grown over time, and many different standards have changed. The fashion now is what most people think is the peak of fashion. Fashion like:
- Coquette
- Alt
- Y2K
These styles became increasingly popular over time because of social media and how well some people style them. Of course, there are more than those that are popular, but the ones listed are the ones that got the most attention.
Coquette
Coquette is based on historical eras like the “Victorian” era—most people do aesthetic inspiration by Marie Antoinette. Marie Antoinette is coquette if it was a person. Victorian-style outfits have been changed into a more modern style but still have the Victorian vibe. It’s like pastel colors, pearls, light-colored anything, lace, and bows. It takes ballet as an aesthetic in a way because the whole point of Coquette was to be an ultra-girly girl. It’s to defeat those female stereotypes by making them exaggerated fashionably.
Alt
Alt is short for an alternative. The style is a style that’s supposed to be different from your commercial or everyday outfit. Alt has a bunch of different varieties like:
- Goth
- Emo
- Grunge
- Cutters
- Fairy Kei
Most alternative styles have a darker hue, almost like a devilish hue, but styles like Fairy Kei or Cutesters have a light or bright color scheme. Like before, the whole point of an alternative is to be different; that’s why it’s called an alternative.
Y2K
Y2K is a different word for “year 2000,” like what it says, it is based on the early 2000s. The early 2000s consisted of low-waisted flared jeans, Juicy Couture, and leporid or cheetah printed anything. Imagine a high schooler in the 00s; that’s the style. The style became famous because influencers and celebrities were wearing 00 ‘s-inspired outfits, and it expanded to the rest of the people. Many people also think of the 2000s as prime time, so that’s also how it became so popular.
