A 13-year-old, Willis Gibson, made gaming history(wow) and was the first person to “beat” Tetris, the game where you try to create horizontal lines using four types of blocks. The original game, which Willis beats, needs to be more responsive, making it difficult for most people to get past level 20. Multiple tricks have made it easier to get farther and bypass the speed restrictions, but even then, they had yet to reach a level as Gibson. Gibson made it past 157 levels before he got presented with a kill screen(pretty much, the game crashed). Nintendo, the makers of Tetris, recognized and congratulated Willis on “being the first to beat the game.” Shortly thereafter, he became a sensation in the gaming community, with many YouTubers making videos about the event. Needless to say, Gibson was delighted when he reached the “end,” making numerous noises of joy and screaming into his hands, all live on stream. Gibson was a small-time streamer before the event and still is, though he has gained quite a bit of a following after the recognition.
So, congratulations to Willis for making gaming history!
