Companies have found a new application for 3D printing. Now with the help of a 3D printer, companies are creating inexpensive customized prosthetics. People who have lost a limb or children born without a limb can take the measurements off of their other remaining limbs, input them into a computer, reverse them and then print a  proportional replacement out of plastic. Selecting the color lets them remember and like the new prosthetic.
