A Jorunna parva, known as the Sea Bunny, are species of dorid nudibranch. Their appearance resembles a rabbit, the Sea Bunny became popular throughout Japan, on Twitter, in 2015.
Sea Bunnies are average about 2.53 cm long, their black and white rhinophores resemble rabbit ears. Sea Bunnies’ external gills are located near their rear. Their body is also covered in papillae which are used for sensory functions, and that’s what gives it its fuzzy look. There are different colors of these fellers, such as yellow, white, brown, and rarely green.
Sea Bunnies have an interesting diet since they eat toxic sponges in the family Chalinidae, however, they also eat algae, seagrass, and other small sea animals (sea slugs or sea snails.) The toxic sponges make a large percentage of their diet, Sea Bunnies eat these highly toxic sponges and steal the toxins to use them as a defense mechanism.
Sea Bunnies were described from Kii Province, Japan. These sea creatures were reported in the Philippines, Tanzania, Papua New Guinea, and Réunion.
