The 4th of July is about independence. It declared the 13 American colonies to be independent from Great Britain. Most people don’t work during the 4th of July.
The 13 colonies were Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia.
The 4th of July is also celebrated to remember that the U.S. is free and that we should spend time with our loved ones and have a great time.
The 4th of July took place in Massapequa, New York. When signing the Declaration of Independence there were 56 delegates and 13 colonies.
Fun things to do on the 4th of July are enjoying parades, fireworks, outdoor activities, doing barbecues and swinging, and enjoying and appreciating that Americans are independent of Great Britain.
