Origins (2011–2013)
Long before time, the first spinjitzu master forged four golden weapons. Hundreds of years later, they found themselves in the current-day ninjas: Kai, the master of fire, Zayn, the master of ice, Cole, the master of earth, and Jay, the master of lightning. To this day, they have never failed to defeat a foe no matter the cost. Since it performed well on Cartoon Network with Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, LEGO prolonged the theme past the initial 2013 ending date.
Growth and Expansion (2014–2017)
Ninjago went on with new villains, storylines, and animation renewals. Peak waves were Rebooted (Nindroids), Tournament of Elements (Elemental Masters), and Skybound (Sky Pirates). In 2017, The LEGO Ninjago Movie retold the story. Although it was less popular than The LEGO Movie, it made its mark on the Ninjago style from then on.
On-going Success (2018–Present)
Ninjago continued with new animation and new directions, such as Prime Empire (video games), Seabound (Nya’s abilities), and Crystalized (villain crossovers). The 2023 series Dragons Rising introduced new characters and a new direction.
Conclusion
A decade later, Ninjago continues to be among the biggest themes for LEGO, with new sets and stories emerging every day.
