Kendrick’s life had violence everywhere: at 15 years old Kendrick was beaten down in front of his mother. When he was 16, Lamar was baptized and converted to Christianity following the death of a friend. Kendrick lived close to high gang and crime violence in Compton California. His very first song was ‘Whatcha Know About It’ in 2003. Before Kendrick started to rap he wrote poetry, and rhymes and worked as a security guard. When he was a kid, he was inspired to do creative writing like poetry, rhymes, and stories.
