Ja Morant has had a very exciting career even though he has plenty more of his prime, lets go back in time before his high-flying dunks and monstrous posters. Temeritus Jamel Morant, otherwise known as “Ja”, was born August 10, 1999, and started his high school career at Crestwood High and was 5 foot 9 inches with little hope of getting an offer to any college. It was an ordinary day at a training camp for Ja but a scout for Murray State was in a conference meeting and got a little hungry so he decided to go to the vending machine to grab a snack, and there he saw Ja’s technical and high-flying ability and decided to stay to watch for a second. He was mesmerized by Ja’s explosive movement and his ability to shoot well. So he decided to give Ja a chance at Murray State where Ja averaged 18.7 points a game and had a breakout game for the championship, which they won.
Ja was drafted 2nd overall in 2019 to the Memphis Grizzlies where they won the conference finals where he averaged 22.3 ppg. On March 4th, Ja was suspended for brandishing a gun on Instagram Live at a strip club in Colorado after losing to Denver in the NBA championship and faced his first bit of controversy and was suspended for 8 games. Then May 14th he was brandishing a weapon yet again on Instagram Live and caught a 25-game suspension and when he did come back got injured for the rest of the season. He is back, healthy, and averaging 20.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg, and 7.4 apg.
