
1- Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and it begins with the sighting of the moon. During this month Muslims fast, read the Quran and pray. When Muslims fast they don’t eat or drink during the day, when they fast they think about all the people in the world who don’t have enough to eat.
2-Christians celebrate Christmas to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, it is the biggest Christian holiday of the year.
3-Kwanzaa is a seven day long holiday that recognizes the African heritage and culture, Family and friends exchange gifts and celebrate all together.
4- Lunar New Year is a fifteen day long holiday where people do many things hoping they can get good luck for the next year, each year has a different zodiac or animal. This year- 2025- is the year of the snake. They do many things like handing out red envelopes full of money to show a good sign that it will be a good year.
5- Diwali is a holiday also known as the day of lights, it is India’s most important holiday of the year. The most important focus to the holiday is how Lord Rama wins over King Ravana (good vs. evil). People wear their fanciest clothing, colorful inside and out.
6- New Year is a holiday the majority of people celebrate around the world. On December 31st to New Year’s Day (January 1st) people stay up until midnight to greet the new year. Most people host parties and some people travel all the way to New York to see the ball drop.
7- Valentines Day is a holiday recognized as a celebration of love in many parts of the world also honoring St. Valentine. People usually celebrate it by buying chocolates for the ladies, making cards etc.
8- Eid Al-Fitr is a holiday. After the last day of Ramadan it is a holiday the Muslims celebrate around the world.
9- Halloween is a holiday where people dress up and wear costumes usually cosplaying as somebody from a movie, show etc. People carve jack o lanterns and or go trick or treating
10- Day of the dead is a Mexican holiday that involves family and friends gathering up to celebrate and remember those who have unfortunately passed away.
