LJMS had some big changes this year—they started a new cross country team. It was a big deal because it was the first time FCPS had sports competitions just for middle school students. The team was open to 7th and 8th graders, giving them a chance to compete against other schools.
In case you’re not familiar, cross country is a running sport that happens in natural places like parks or golf courses. Mr. Klucker and Ms. Brown were the coaches, and they led the team in after-school practices. As for getting home after practice; there was a late bus available. According to a cross country team member who wishes to remain anonymous, cross country is a fun sport, and is good exercise.
Being on the LJMS cross country team meant a lot to 7th and 8th graders. And if you’re into track and field, the spring season is just around the corner.
