Washington Commanders Linebacker Helps Students Learn About the Presidency

Washington Commanders linebacker, Jamin Davis, usually runs down opponents on a football field. On Monday, November 13th, Mr. Davis volunteered to come in on his off day to educate Mr. Holzshu’s civics students about a different type of running, running for political office. This all came about because 8th grader, Liam Eckerman, chose Davis to be his presidential candidate for a civics project that he’s working on. Jamin Davis helped the students understand the skills that make him a professional athlete aren’t too dissimilar from the skills it might take to become President of the United States. Davis shared that his personal motto, “You can’t have a million dollar dream with a minimum wage work ethic,” helped him overcome odds and play in the NFL. At this point, he’s not really running to be president, but when he hits that minimum age (35), if he chooses to run, don’t bet against him.
