Why Did The FCC Present A New Suicide Prevention Hotline?

Covid-19 has caused a lot of mental toll on kids throughout America, with data revealing that youngsters who have purposely self-harmed have nearly doubled in April 2020 compared to April 2019. The FCC wants to provide teens with a suicide prevention line that they can text.

What Three-Digit Number Should I Call?

The FCC will vote on a proposal on April 22/2021, which investigates the possibility of requiring phone providers to route all texts sent to 988 to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This number will take into effect by July 2022. (In the meantime, callers may use 1-800-273-8255.) The change is intended to enable more youth, low-income individuals to call the hotline.

“If you look to others for fulfillment, you will never be fulfilled. If your happiness depends on money, you will never be happy with yourself. Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the world belongs to you.”
