Apple’s W1 Chip

Apple has been including a chip called the W1 Chip in some select headsets such as Apple Airpods.  The W1 chip allows for the w1 Chip headphones/earbuds to automatically connect by Bluetooth to an Apple device running iOS 10 or later or MacOS Sierra or later.  It also allows the wireless headphones/earbuds to have a longer battery life.

The W1 Chip is related to engineering because the W1 Chip had to be engineered by engineers to allow all these functions and at the same time be small enough to fit in small devices such as Apple Airpods.
