A ballpoint pen, also known as a Biro,or ball pen, is a pen that dispenses ink over a metal ball at its point. It usually made out of steel or brass. The ballpoint pen was made to be a cleaner and more reliable pen, it was an alternative to dip pens and is now the worlds most used writing utensil. It has also influenced artists and created a new genre. Since the ballpoint pen is much better millions are manufactured everyday and there are so many different colors.

On October 30th 1888, John Loud invented the ballpoint pen because he wanted something that can write on rough surfaces like wood. He started modifying the pen by adding a ball and sock which makes it a “ballpoint” pen. Over the years many companies came out with their own versions and its rare not to see a ballpoint pen.

Since there was no utensils that could write on hard surfaces John Loud deiced to fix the problem and change the world forever. This relates to our project because we want to fix the problem of never having a charging cable when you need so we are making a charging lanyard and we hope we can fix a problem like John Loud did.
