How Bad are Drones for Airplane Wings?

How Bad are Drones for Airplane Wings?

By: Peter Kratz

Lately, there have been many disagreements about drone safety, especially where they are allowed. Drones are off limits near military bases and airports because of security reasons, and because drones could potentially crash a plane. Many different ways of drone collisions have been examined, but how much damage could be done to a wing? Videos show that if a drone collided head on with an airplane wing that a hole could be ruptured straight through. This could very well mean the end of the plane and its passengers. We should make new rules so that this can be prevented.

This relates to engineering because it shows how to different types of machines could possibly destroy each other. Engineers need to come together and brainstorm a solution.
