Microbots to Fight Cancer

By: Avi Shrestha

The past decade has found achievements in microbots. In October 2006, a steel bead, smaller than ball of a ballpoint pen, was injected into a pig. A magnetic resonance imaging machine (MRI) moved the ball down the pig’s artery. The experiment tested a program to manipulate the machines magnetic forces. This was the first time an object moved wirelessly through a living organism.

This relates to engineering, because this is relatively new technology which requires more research, and leaps of development of the design of these microbots.
