Education for All

Education for All

If I were tasked with saving the world I would create a humanoid robot, programmed to act as a teacher. It would be shipped all over the world and sent to children that would otherwise not have the opportunity to go to school.

MIT has taken the first step toward this goal. A program by the name of “1 laptop per child” is a way that children who would otherwise not have the privilege of school have a new way to learn using this program. Children friendly laptops, programmed to act a virtual teachers are continuously shipped around the world and have helped 2 million children go to school since the program started.

This relates to Engineering because, this $100 dollar computer is an Engineering feat. Since this computer is meant to be sent to kids and be shipped all over the world, it has been quite the challenge to create such a cheap and durable computer. It had to be programmed and created.
