An article on FrugalFunBoys.com explains how to make your own water balloon launcher that is fun for all ages! To make this water balloon launcher, some woodworking is involved. To build this item, all you need is:

  • 3 – 8 foot long 4 x 4’s
  • 1 – 8 foot long 2 x 4
  • 2 – 3/8 inch by 6 inch screws
  • 6 – 3/8 inch by 8 inch screws
  • 2 – 5/16 inch x 4 inch screws with eye hooks (probably does not have to be this exact size)
  • 1 – three man water balloon launcher
  • water balloons

In all, the amount of money they spent on this balloon launcher was $73. $52 for the wood and hardware, $10 for the launcher and $11 for the balloons. The article stated they used pressure treating lumber but you could cut down the cost a lot by using regular pine boards. They also show how to take down the launcher for easy storage so that it can be used yearly. The article recommends that if you’re planning to leave yours up all the time to add a second cross-piece on the back-end of the launcher.
